Hygienic Wall Cladding Installation Guidelines
These instructions are a guide only and may need to be adapted to individual circumstance. This should enable anybody to create a hygienic, easy to maintain surface which will comply with current food regulation requirements.
Our cladding system is suitable for dry flat surfaces, tiles, blockwork etc. If you are in any doubt of the suitability of your surface please contact us for further advice.
The first task is to measure the room, both length and width to estimate how many panels and what profiles are required. PAR can estimate this for you if you provide us with a simple sketch of the room.
Before you start ensure all surfaces are clean and degreased and any holes are filled.
To start each sheet is secured to the wall on all four sides by fixing the H Joints and J Edge. Screwing them to the wall through their wider back legs does this. For corners and around door and windows, internal and external angles or corners are used. It is important to use our adhesive/sealant within and behind the installation to ensure the whole surface is watertight. Polypropylene sheet has to be mechanically fixed using drive rivets. For PVC we supply a number of suitable adhesives depending on your requirements and budget. Please see our hygienic wall caldding page for full details.
Simple installations will use the H Joints, J Edges and internal and external angles but our range of skirting can be used to finish the bottom, along with our coving and ceiling range at the top. The full range is show in on our hygienic wall cadding page.
To start flex a sheet into the top and bottom J edges, use beads of silicone on the back legs to seal against the back of the sheet. Next slide the H joint onto the edge of the sheet, leaving clearance for expansion and drill through and secure the other side of the joint to the wall. Use a bead of sealant on the back leg to seal the sheet. Flex in a second sheet followed by another joint and so on.
For corners the most commonly used profile is the Internal or External Angle, which we offer in different sizes. THe angles are usually secured with drive rivets. External Angles can also be used around windows and doors with ‘reveals’. Off cut sheet can be used in the sides and external angle can frame the whole thing smoothly. If there is an architrave proud of the wall consider using a J edge instead.

Dependant on the application a choice if internal and external corner profiles are available, please contact us for details. Our PVC wall caldding system must be applied with suitable adhesive and sealant. In certain situations the profiles may require installation via mechanical fixings. Please contact us for advice.

General Advice
Cutting Sheets
Polypropylene – score with a Stanley Knife and fold on the score line. Alternatively ensuring the sheet is fully supported use a saw or electric jigsaw.
PVC – cut all the way through with a Stanley Knife or fully support and use a fine tooth handsaw or jigsaw.
Expansion
All plastics expand but this is not a problem if allowed for. A 2440x1220mm Polypropylene Sheet will expand 2.4mm in height and 1.2mm in width for every rise in temperature of 10°C. PVC is approximately 2/3 of Polypropylene. If using drive rivets through a sheet, cut a slightly oversize hole in the sheet to allow for movement.
Pipes
Avoid fitting sheet directly against hot pipes or if this is unavoidable ensure the pipe is adequately insulated. Sheet is not suitable for use in area when there is direct heat, such as directly behind an oven. BACK to hygienic wall caldding
