Ceramic & Glass Fibre

Ceramic & Glass Fibre

Ceramic and glass fibre materials are high temperature insulating fabrics woven into a range of different products. Both grades display resistance to oils, solvents and thermal shock, good chemical stability, and are unaffected by bacterial growth. They're also incredibly lightweight, non-combustible, and versatile, making them popular for use in a wide range of industrial applications.

Woven ceramic fibre products are often spun and combined with glass or wire reinforcing media in order to improve tensile strength and mechanical properties at elevated temperatures. They provide a higher temperature rating, lower thermal conductivity and a greater resistance to steam than glass fibre counterparts. This material is suitable for use in applications up to +1260°C, though the glass or wire reinforcements are rated lower.

Woven glass fibre products are spun using 100% air textured E-glass yarns and provide a high volume of entrapped air, giving manufactured products exceptional thermal insulation. They are suitable for use in temperatures up to +550°C.

Both ceramic and glass fibre products exhibit exceptional chemical resistance properties, counteracting effects from the majority of corrosive agents. Known exceptions include hydrofluoric acid, phosphoric acid and concentrated alkalis.

Note: With ceramic insulation products the organic content will burn off at temperatures above 200°C without affecting the properties of the ceramic fibre. However, adequate ventilation should be provided during this initial heating.

Ceramic & Glass Fibre Products

Glass Webbing Tape
Glass Webbing Tape

Glass webbing is easily converted into gaskets and seals for boiler, kiln and furnace doors. It can also be applied to pipes as lagging to prevent heat loss and injury to personnel. Temperature up to +550°C.
