Butyl Rubber Gaskets

Butyl Rubber Gaskets

Butyl rubber gaskets are cut from a synthetic material manufactured from a blend of isobutylene and a small amount of isoprene. The compound is less porous than other gasket materials and is primarily used in demanding sealing applications involving gases and compressed air due to the elastomers impermeability. Butyl rubber gaskets also provide excellent thermal stability and are a suitable option for external applications due to their resistance to ageing, ultra-violet and weathering. This gasket material is not suitable for use with petrol and oils.

As standard, butyl rubber gaskets are supplied with a smooth plate finish on both sides. They are available in a range of standard flangedovetail and picture frame options from PAR Group. For more information on how to accurately measure your gasket, please see our guide on 'How to Measure a Gasket'.
