Tico High Duty Fabric Reinforced Pads

Tico Hi-Duty pads and buffers take on the toughest tasks. They have the strength and resilience to cushion massive impacts, absorb fierce shock loads, and attenuate severe vibration from heavy plant.

There are three Hi-Duty grades: Tico RF/PA, PF/PA and FF/PA.

Each has special properties which enable it to operate efficiently for long periods under particularly arduous industrial conditions.

Key features of Tico RF/PA, PF/PA & FF/PA include:

• Very tough and resilient. 
• Absorbs highly-destructive shock loads without reducing efficiency. 
• Prolongs the life of machinery. 
• Retains its properties under extreme conditions.
• Easy to custom mould (PF/PA). 
• Unaffected by dampness or environmental changes.
• Composition can be varied to suit specific duties.

TICO RF/PA

Originally developed to absorb shock loads under drop hammer anvils, Tico RF/PA is now also used as a heavy-duty mounting pad for reducing vibration from large plant and as a general duty buffer.

Typical Applications:

• Anvil pads on new and existing forging hammer installations.
• Anti-vibration mounts on large plant.
• Heavy duty buffers.

Typical Properties:

TICO PF/PA

Combining high stiffness with great durability and resistance to impact. Ease of custom-moulding makes them ideal for many special duties. This material is manufactured by vulcanising together plies of synthetic elastomer proofed fabric. The result is a smooth moulded pad.

Typical Applications:

• Impact absorption on piling hammers
• Resillient spigot packing between sections of hammer frames
• Mounting ancillary equipment on heavy plant to attenuate vibration and improve operator comfort
• Prevent fretting, corrosion and spalling of concrete seatings
• TICO PF/WA washers to replace spring washers on tie bolts.

Typical Properties:

Developed for arduous shock-absorbing duties, Tico FF/PA pads can be carefully tuned during manufacture to give specific properties for individual applications. Tico FF/PA is a combination pad. It is normally based on Tico PF/PA material, coupled with an appropriate Tico product selected to meet design criteria. The physical properties of this composite are adjusted to match specific applications by varying the proportions of individual layers within the material, and its overall thickness.

Typical Applications:

• Forging hammer buffer pads.
• Resilient pads for roller table bearing chocks.
• End stop buffers in steelworks.
• Buffers for mine cages.
• Mounting high-load machines on irregular surfaces.

Typical Properties:

*For static applications only, -30ºC is the minimum temperature for dynamic applications

Recovery Properties

A pad 150mm x 150mm x 20mm thick was compressed to 90% of its original thickness under a static load of 15.5MN/m² and on release exhibited the following recovery characteristics.
