PTFE Sheet

PTFE Sheet

PTFE sheet, also referred to as polytetrafluoroethylene or Teflon™ is a high performance engineering plastic. It has a broad operating temperature, is chemically inert (with the exception of some alkali metals), and has an extremely low co-efficient of friction. PTFE also provides outstanding dielectric properties and resistance to corrosion, but is subject to creep due to the materials non-stick surface.

At PAR Group, we offer a range of grades that provide different characteristics. Our standard and most popular grade of PTFE plastic is Virgin, which complies with FDA and EC food contact regulations. This grade can be supplied with an etched backing that allows the material to be bonded to other materials or, alternatively, with a dimpled surface if required. Carbon, glass, stainless steel and bronze filled composites are available and provide improved dimensional stability, resistance to creep and offer other individual benefits such as static dissipation or thermal conductivity. We can also supply metal detectable options for use in food processing applications and skived PTFE if an adhesive backing is required.

Due to the materials characteristics, PTFE sheet is machined into a broad range of finished products for use in industries such as aerospace, chemical, printing and publishing, power generation and food and pharmaceutical. PTFE is commonly manufactured into gaskets and seals, insulators, slide bearings, slide plates and linings. Although PTFE is easy to machine, the material is difficult to bond (unless it is supplied with a chemically etched backing) and is not suitable for applications involving highly abrasive materials due to its soft surface.

We offer a plastic machining service utilising highly advanced CNC technology and have the capability to manufacture parts from simple to complex shapes should you require. PTFE rod and tube are also available. For more information on each grade please follow the links below or click the 'buy online' button above.

Standard Grades of PTFE Sheet

PTFE Sheet - Virgin
PTFE Sheet - Virgin

Our standard and most popular grade; virgin PTFE offers exceptional resistance to chemicals and has a very low co-efficient of friction. It complies with EC and FDA regulations and offers good dielectric strength. Temperature range -200°C up to +260°C.

PTFE Sheet - Blue Food Quality
PTFE Sheet - Blue Food Quality

Commonly used in food processing applications due to its highly visible colour, blue food quality PTFE sheet retains the key characteristics of the virgin alternative. It also complies with FDA and EC regulations. Temperature range  -200°C up to +260°C.

PTFE Sheet - Carbon Filled
PTFE Sheet - Carbon Filled

Provides improved dimensional stability and resistance to creep and wear compared to virgin PTFE. Carbon filled PTFE is partially electrically conductive and is used to help dissipate electric charge. Temperature range -200°C up to +260°C.

PTFE Sheet - Glass Filled
PTFE Sheet - Glass Filled

Glass filled PTFE sheet offers improved dimensional stability and resistance to creep when compared to virgin PTFE. It is commonly manufactured into bearings that work at low pressure / velocity (PV) values. It is not suitable for food contact applications. Temperature range -260°C up to +250°C.

PTFE Sheet - Stainless Steel Filled
PTFE Sheet - Stainless Steel Filled

Providing enhanced mechanical properties, resistance to wear and improved thermal conductivity compared to the Virgin alternative. Stainless steel PTFE is FDA approved and is commonly manufactured into slide runners and pads. Temperature range -200°C up to +260°C.

PTFE Sheet - Bronze Filled
PTFE Sheet - Bronze Filled

Bronze filled PTFE sheet provides improved mechanical strength, thermal conductivity and resistance to cold creep when compared to standard grades of PTFE. It is commonly used in dynamic applications that require a strong, hard material. Temperature range -200°C up to +260°C.

PTFE Sheet - Metal Detectable
PTFE Sheet - Metal Detectable

Offers outstanding resistance to corrosion, chemicals and temperature. Metal detectable PTFE contains additives that are visible to most metal detector scanning equipment. It is EC and FDA approved for food contact applications. Temperature range -200°C up to +260°C.

PTFE Sheet - Skived
PTFE Sheet - Skived

Manufactured from a thin film of PTFE with a self-adhesive silicone backing. Skived PTFE has a non-stick surface that is chemically inert and provides resistance to high temperatures. It is used in applications where an instant anti-stick lining is required. Temperature range -73°C up to +260°C.
