Plastic Sprockets

Plastic sprockets are commonly used as an alternative to metal sprockets in power transmission and roller chain applications. Manufactured from cast oil filled nylon, they offer a wide range of benefits over traditional metal counterparts such as self lubricating properties and a reduced coefficient of friction. This helps to reduce both wear on the plastic roller chain and noise levels of the application. Other benefits include better resistance to corrosion, increased impact strength, and a lighter weight than metal alternatives. Split sprockets can also be supplied for applications whereby the machinery is not able to be dismantled. They are supplied in two halves and can be assembled in place around the installation, removing the need for equipment to be taken apart.

Plastic sprockets are available to suit CC600 and CC1400 series case chains as standard. We also offer a plastic machining service and can manufacture bespoke plastic sprockets to your exact requirements.

Applications

Power transmission applications in dusty/gritty environments, areas with frequent washdown applications, or where a quieter operation is required. Blue sprockets have are specifically developed for food and drink manufacturing applications so they are easier to detect in the event of contamination.
