Mica M & P

Mica (also known as Muscotherm or Musco) is a hard wearing, high temperature insulation material. Mica minerals are bonded with a silicon resin to create a high performance laminated sheet with exceptional physical characteristics. It is frequently used in applications requiring low thermal and electrical conductivity as well as high strength and flame retardancy.

Applications

Electromechanical and thermomechanical components requiring high temperature resistance and low electrical conductivity.

Key Features

Temperature: Mica M (muscovite): Up to +500°C continuous, +800°C intermittent.
Temperature: Mica P (phlogopite): Up to +700°C continuous, +1000°C intermittent.
Flame retardant and non-flammable.
Does not give off fumes and conducts very little heat.
Excellent dielectric strength and low electrical conductivity.
Good compressive strength and high modulus of elasticity.
Tolerant of water and most chemicals, including acids, bases, mineral oils and solvents.
