Case Study: Fabricated Settlement Tubes

Settlement Tubes

Plastic fabrication is the process by which plastic sheet material is formed, folded, welded or bonded in the manufacture of bespoke plastic parts. PAR Group offer a comprehensive plastic fabrication service using a wide range of in-house manufacturing facilities. We can fabricate in a wide range of plastic materials including PETG, polycarbonate, acrylic (Perspex®), PVC and polypropylene.

Overview

The site were purchasing clear plastic settlement tubes from an alternative supplier. When buying the tubes, they were also required to take a motor and a stirrer as they were part of a kit, making replacements expensive. The site were looking for an option to purchase the tubes on their own, thus making replacements cheaper ongoing.

The Solution

A PAR representative attended site to measure up the settlement tubes including the base. The tubes were required to be water tight, therefore the tube had to be slotted into a recess on the base. This was achieved by utilising our CNC profile cutting technology with the tube being slotted in and fully welded to create a water tight joint. The original part had the rule applied to the inside which was quickly worn down by the stirrer. Vinyl rules were separately printed and applied to the outside of the tube making each last longer. By offering the settlement tubes as a standalone unit, PAR were able to more than halve the cost of the complete kit offered by the alternative supplier.
